■Prof. James B. Kuo received a BSEE degree from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan in 1977, an MSEE degree from Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA in 1978,and a PhDEE degree from Stanford University, Stanford, California, USA in 1985. Before the PhD study, he worked in silicon valley, California, as a research engineer, developing telecommunication modem chips using CMOS technology. After the PhD program, he worked as a research associate in IC Lab of Stanford University before joining National Taiwan University as an associate professor in 1987. He became a professor at NTU in 1990. Between 2000 and 2003, while on leave from NTUEE, he has been with University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada as the prestigious Canada Research Chair Professor on low-voltage CMOS VLSI. In 2006, he was granted the prestigious Life Distinguished Professor by NTU. Since 2018 he has been a professor emeritus of NTU. His research expertise is in the field of low-voltage CMOS circuits and compact modeling of CMOS and power devices. He became an IEEE fellow in 1999 for contributions to modeling CMOS VLSI devices. He has been granted the Outstanding Research Award by Taiwan Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST) in Microelectronics three times and Distinguished Elite Researcher in 2015. He was awarded with the Life Distinguished Professor by NTU in 2006. Prof. Kuo has been enthusiastic for the international IEEE activities. He served as an AdCom member and the VP of membership for the IEEE Electron Devices Society. He has published over 390 technical papers and authored eight books including Low-Voltage SOI CMOS VLSI Devices and Circuits (John Wiley, New York, 2001 and 2004), Low-Voltage CMOS VLSI Circuits (John Wiley: New York, 1999) and CMOS VLSI Engineering Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) ---Kluwer Boston, 1998. He has graduated 120 MS and PhD students specialized in CMOS circuit design and device modeling, currently working in leading microelectronics companies.
█ 郭正邦教授 1977年台大電機畢業, 1978年美國俄亥俄州立大學電機碩士,1985年美國史坦福大學電機博士. 1987年返回母校成電機系副教授. 1990年成為台大教授. 2000-2002年台大留職停薪,於加拿大滑鐵盧大學任職正教授. 2001年獲得加拿大講座教授. 郭教授研究專長在低電壓超大型積體電路設計及深次微米CMOS SPICE精簡元件模型.郭教授於1999年由對CMOS超大型機電CMOS元件模型的傑出貢獻成為IEEE fellow (國際電子電機學會院士). 2006年獲得台大特聘教授.郭教授在1995及2000及2003年曾三度獲得國科會所頒發微電子研究傑出獎. 2006年獲得台大特聘教授的榮譽. 2015年獲得科技部頒發的傑出學者獎. 2018年成為台大名譽教授.郭教授熱心於國際IEEE 電子元件學會活動, 曾任IEEE電子元件學會理事及會員部副總.郭教授是IEEE電子元件學會傑出演講者.郭教授著作390篇技術論文及 八本教科書,包括於紐約Wiley出版的近作:低電壓CMOS超大型積體電路(1999)及SOI(2001). 郭教授已指導120位專精於CMOS電路設計及元件模型博士碩士畢業學生, 任職於國內外著名微電子公司, 從事尖端研發工作.
