Polly Huang is an associate professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering (joint appointment), and the Graduate Institute of Networking and Multimedia (courtesy) of National Taiwan University. Polly received her Ph.D. (1999) and M.S. (1997) in Computer Science from University of Southern California, and her B.S. (1993) in Mathematics from National Taiwan University. Prior to joining National Taiwan University, she worked as a summer intern for two consecutive years in AT&T Labs-Research, Florham Park, a post-doctoral research scientist at the Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory (TIK) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich and a post-doc fellow at the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics of UCLA.

Polly has participated in a wide range of research projects, including Internet characterization, network simulation, and network protocol design. These experiences have nurtured her interest in design, analysis, and applications of communication networks in general. Her recent research focus includes Internet modelling and performance evaluation, sensor networking, and peer-to-peer multimedia networking.

Polly was the recipient of the APRU Fellowship in 2004, the IPAM fellowship from UCLA, in 2002, the TIK award from ETH Zurich in 2001, and the Best Paper Award from IS2000. Polly had served as a TPC member on a number of key networking conferences, including ACM SIGCOMM and ACM SenSys and as a member of the editorial board of Journal of Communications and Networks. She is a member of the ACM and IEEE.
